Mon, Aug 18 - We had Rain!!

We had rain this weekend! On Saturday, a thunderstorm formed and made its way down the valley. Rainfall amounts were substantial with 0.25" of rain on campus! Other parts of the valley had more (0.31" in Spring City, 0.54" at a different site in Ephraim, and about 0.5" up Thistle Canyon). The Skyline also had about 0.25" of rain.

Looking forward, we may not see as much rain for a few days. A High Pressure system we have been watching was parked over Colorado, bringing humid air from the South. However, this High Pressure system has moved to the West and is now sitting over Central and Eastern Utah. As a result, much of Utah will actually experience very high temperatures for the next couple of days.

This system will weaken as the week progresses, however. More of the Southwest Monsoon will extend Northward and reach our area later this week, bringing more rain in the later parts of the week and into the weekend.
